Thugs to Riches

Wired has a feature this month on Gizmondo, the gaming company that burned away nearly $400 million within 4 years on things like a limited edition (only 400 ever made) Ferrari Enzo, the majority stake of a model agency in order to supply attractive women for company parties, and who knows what. It's like something straight out of a Hollywood movie.

Insecurity

Good things come in 3s. Since I haven't posted in such a long time, I'll do another one.

All this nonsense and paranoia about airline security and terrorists is really really pissing me off.

I'll bet that more people die from leukemia each year than from terrorists and all the suicide bombings going on these days. Why don't we spend like 1/10 of the money we're putting into terrorism for the treatment of whatever diseases and cancers instead? Because we're easily-manipulated idiots who are afraid of dying.

Call it whatever you want, but I think Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Richard Branson are on the right track with their giganhumongonormous donations to causes more worthy of our attention.

Some guy in Washington state was deemed suspicious and had to miss his flight for questioning because he was speaking on his cell phone in Tamil prior to take-off. How American is that? Different skin color + different language = terrorist.

This might some day get me in the TSA's black book, but Kip Hawley is an idiot.

Attack of the Giant Bug

Seems like Germany has bug problems.

Milestone

After some 3 years, I finally sent my 10,000th email at work this morning. This is a cause for celebration. =)
